Moratti: “Complete faith in Benitez”
MILAN – Massimo Moratti spoke briefly to Sky Sport Italia earlier today outside the Saras offices in Milan’s city centre.
Moratti, your thoughts on the comments made yesterday by José Mourinho, who said ‘why not?’ when asked about the possibility of returning to Inter in the future?
"Well… Mourinho did this with Chelsea as well. It’s nice for him to say it and we’re pleased he’s still fond of us, but I think he said it out of politeness more than anything else."
But maybe a few fans might have hoped for a return after hearing these declarations?
"No, no. Everything is possible in life, but I hope that Benitez does well because I believe in him and in this moment I am putting all my faith in him."
What do you think it is about Mourinho that makes some fans hopeful of a return to Inter?
"He won everything, but now we hope Benitez will be successful. He is here to do well. You can’t be nostalgic in life, otherwise we should have thought about Herrera… So we will move forward like this. It’s true that we’re fond of Mourinho too. We thank him and we are grateful for what he has done. Now I hope to be grateful to Benitez."
Mourinho also said that Ibrahimovic is a great player, and he is pleased he went to Milan because in this way he won’t be able to score for Barcelona…
(Smiles) "Obviously, but him being at Milan is worse for us… Anyway, we will see what happens."
