UCL, Ranieri: “I’m only thinking about tomorrow”

MARSEILLE - "I’m not thinking about what could happen the day after tomorrow, I have too many important things to be worrying about tomorrow. I don’t think my job is on the line, even though I have… good backers [smiling]. But I would never ask the players to play for me; I always ask them to play for the team they represent. I’m still calm and I have an excellent relationship with the president." That was Claudio Ranieri speaking during his pre-match press conference on the eve of Marseille v Inter.

MARSEILLE - "I’ve said it lots of times that this team is neither past it nor ill. They can have moments of fatigue, though, and they have all coincided with the league. Hopefully now that we have the Champions League we’ll see the return of the champions and their pride." That’s what Claudio Ranieri is expecting in Marseille v Inter, which kicks off at 20:45 at the Stade Vélodrome tomorrow.

UCL, Forlan: “Marseille are a tough proposition”

MARSEILLE – Diego Forlan was the player chosen to
accompany Claudio Ranieri in the UEFA Champions League press
conference ahead of the last-16 first-leg clash with Marseille in
France. "I feel good, better," the forward was quick to stress. "We hope to do well here and we want to do well here. We know that
Marseille are tough opposition with good players and a stadium that
always gets behind them. I’ve played here before and I know what sort
of an atmosphere there is, but we’ll give it 100%."

UCL, Branca: “Let’s get our confidence back”

MARSEILLE
– After the Nerazzurri’s training session at the Stade Vélodrome
this evening, technical director Marco Branca gave a brief interview
to Sky Sport Italia. The Inter director was asked if he believed the
team had come to the end of a cycle: "It’s a bit premature to say
that," Branca replied. "And of course it’s something that
would be discussed within the club and not in public. But we
shouldn’t forget that before this run of negative results
there were lots of good results. Then we lost a few games, some of
which were against teams that weren’t entirely irresistible. We also ended up
drawing one in quite a shocking way so there has been a bit of a dip in
confidence. Now we have to get that back again."
