NextGen Series: Inter all set for final

LONDON - So here we are at Leyton Orient Stadium again. The ground that hosted the Nerazzurri in their NextGen Series opener back in August is also the venue for the first ever final of this prestigious youth tournament. Tomorrow, Sunday 25 March, Inter will lock horns with Ajax for the right to raise aloft the trophy. The Dutch outfit reached the final after beating Barcelona (3-0 in the quarter-finals) and Liverpool (6-0 in the semis).

It’s an event not to be missed. Kick-off is at 13:30 local time (14:30 CET). You can watch the match live on Inter Channel (Sky Italia, channel 232) or on inter.it.

Primavera: first session before final and Ajax

LONDON - Andrea Stramaccioni‘s Primavera team returned to Arsenal Training Centre this afternoon for a light session following their exertions in last night’s 2-0 win over Marseille in the NextGen Series semi-final. The players who featured for all or most of yesterday’s game had a recovery session while the rest of the squad carried out exercises on the pitch. Matteo Bianchetti followed a personalised programme.

MILAN – Inter Primavera coach Andrea Stramaccioni was
interviewed live on Sky Sport 24 today, answering questions from the
journalists in the studio. The topic was of course Inter’s
progress in the NextGen Series, the "U19 Champions League". After
beating Marseille at Griffin Park in London last night, Inter will compete with Ajax for the trophy on Sunday. "Reaching
this final is a huge satisfaction for Inter, for our youth academy,
for the club and I think I can say also for Italian youth football as
a whole, which we are representing in this competition. People often
say we don’t pay enough attention to youth football in Italy,
but yesterday Inter proved that we’re as good as anybody."

Paolillo: “We deserved to reach the final”

LONDON – Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo gave his thoughts after watching the Nerazzurri Primavera qualify for the NextGen Series final thanks to their 2-0 victory over Marseille: "I’m really pleased because you could see what a good group this is and in particular you could see the coach’s hand in it all. I’ve watched this team improve day by day since Stramaccioni took over. We’re delighted but above all we hope to have made our president happy too.

LONDON – Inter Primavera produced a magnificent performance this evening in the NextGen Series semi-final to dispatch Marseille: 2-0 the final scoreline. Andrea Stramaccioni‘s lads got themselves on track almost instantly when Lorenzo Crisetig curled in a brilliant free kick with just a minute on the clock. Shortly before half time the Nerazzurri doubled their lead as Bessa was played in down the left at the end of a neatly worked team move; his cutback found Samuele Longo charging into the six-yard box for a simple finish. The second half was mostly one-way traffic with Marseille seemingly impotent and failing to test Di Gennaro in the Inter goal until the 86th minute, when the Nerazzurri keeper was alert to keep out Bonelli’s shot on the turn.
