MILAN - From 15 to 23. What’s in a number? 2011 saw Andrea Ranocchia change his shirt number: from July he inherited an important one as Marco Materazzi proudly handed him No. 23. In the meantime Ranocchia has become a near permanent fixture at the heart of the Nerazzurri defence and contributed with a couple of goals in the process: both of them, against Cagliari and Cesena, were decisive.

MILAN - Two second-half goals enabled Inter to beat Cagliari 2-1 in Week 12 as the Nerazzurri returned to Serie A action after the international break.
The first half ended goalless, though Inter were twice denied by the woodwork – first by Pazzini (21) and then by Zarate (24). After the restart Thiago Motta fired home from close range following Alvarez’s free kick, with the Cagliari players complaining of a handball, then Coutinho doubled the lead as he notched up his first goal of the season. There was still time for Faraoni to make his Serie A debut but also for Larrivey to pull one back for Cagliari: 2-1 the final score.
