MILAN - Ernesto Paolillo, Nerazzurri managing director and chief operating officer, has revealed details of Inter’s involvement in the inaugural NextGen Series, an U19 European club competition with a Champions League format that Nerazzurri youth players will be competing in next season, starting on 31 August. Paolillo spoke to Inter Channel’s Roberto Monzani about the tournament, which will be run experimentally for the first three years. Sixteen teams will be divided into four groups of four, with sides facing each other in home and away fixtures. The top two from each group will qualify for the knockout stage.

MILAN – (source: Football Data) When Inter take part in the 2011/12 Champions League they will be competing in the competition for the tenth year in a row, having qualified every year since 2002/03. It is the longest run of consecutive appearances by any Italian club in the history of the Champions League/European Cup.

UEFA: the Champions League is in London

LONDON – The UEFA Champions
League is in the city. Michel Platini, president of the governing body of
European football, brought the trophy to the city that will host the final of
the 2010/11 season on May 28 at Wembley Stadium.

This morning at Guildhall,
the ceremonial and administrative building of the city, in the presence of the
most important UEFA directors, the trophy was delivered Michael Bear, Lord
Mayor of London, mayor Boris Johnson and David Bernstein, chairman of the
English Football Association.

Zanetti: “On with the league and the cup”

GELSENKIRCHEN - "We did everything we could in this the competition. Raul’s goal came from a mistake of ours when we were in control of the game, but the tie was already compromised in the first leg. Of course we’re all disappointed." That was Javier Zanetti’s comment as he spoke to Rai at the end of the game.
