Sergio Zanetti: “A team effort”

APPIANO
GENTILE
– "We’ll try to score goals without letting one in," began
Claudio Ranieri at a press conference on the eve of Inter v Olympique
Marseille.

"We
know the danger and the speed of Marseille on counterattacks. We know their
strengths and their weaknesses. It will be a game within the game. There will
be more games in the same game," said the coach. He was then asked if the
inclusion of Remy, who was missing in the first leg, will make Marseille a
different team. "Yes, definitely. He has a different style of play
compared to Brandao and the players know how to serve him. But I have a pair of
defenders that is among the best in the world. Provided that the two don’t play
together, Remy and Brandao."

VERONA – "This evening’s win was important first of all for the result.
Then there’s the fact that the team seemed on the rise to me. They put a steady
approach into the play and looked good on the pitch. Finally, there’s the point
of view of the Champions League, since Tuesday we have an important match and
it can be useful for morale." Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, president
Massimo Moratti provided a brief but effective statement on why Inter’s victory
against Chievo tonight was fundamental.

APPIANO GENTILE – How can we explain Inter’s goal drought? That was a question put to Claudio Ranieri during the press conference before tomorrow’s match against Catania: "Perhaps we’ve lacked a little determination at times and had a bit of bad luck. We need to be calm again, or at least stronger than everything that’s happening to us. It’s true that there have been times when our game hasn’t been fluid but we’ve created chances all the same. But it’s one thing when everything is going well, when the water flows down to the sea with no problems, and another when that doesn’t happen: at the moment we’re not able to send the water where we want it."
